Katie Anderson Presents on Preventing and Addressing Retaliation Claims in School Districts

Partner Katie Anderson presented at the National School Attorneys Association Annual Conference on October 15, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Anderson joined Amy A. Matthews of Church Church Hittle and Antrim for a session titled “Strike Back? Think Again: A School Attorney’s Guide to Preventing and Addressing Retaliation Claims.”

The presentation focused on identifying and addressing retaliation risks in school districts, including how routine employment decisions can lead to claims when they are perceived as retaliatory. Reassignments, schedule changes, and performance evaluations can create potential challenges for school administrators and their legal counsel.

The session addressed practical strategies school attorneys can use to help districts identify risks early, document employment decisions, and make defensible decisions before a dispute escalates into a formal claim.

Anderson's participation reflects Carrington Coleman's experience in school law and its commitment to helping clients navigate complex legal issues affecting educational institutions.
