Kate’s practice sits at the intersection of law, data, and technology, advising organizations on how to govern, protect, commercialize, and build with data and AI across the full arc of their operations.

She represents a wide range of clients on matters spanning AI governance and strategy, data law, privacy, cybersecurity, commercial technology transactions, and information governance. Her practice covers the full spectrum of regulated and sensitive data, and a key part of her value to clients is recognizing when a transaction or issue implicates specialized regulatory requirements and ensuring they have the right expertise to address them.

She works closely with clients to understand their objectives and identify risk, keeping an eye on both the evolving regulatory landscape and the client’s broader strategic goals. The aim is to deliver solutions that are legally sound, commercially sensible, and built to hold up as the law and technology continue to change.

Her engagement with AI is not new. Well before generative AI entered the mainstream conversation, she was advising clients on machine learning, predictive analytics, facial recognition, and IoT, at a time when these technologies were just beginning to move from research into enterprise deployments. That foundation shapes how she thinks about the AI and data questions businesses face today.

Sarah S. Youssef

I take a thoughtful and proactive approach to my work and try to anticipate issues before they arise. I’m attentive to each client’s goals and take the time to understand what matters most to them, while being reliable, friendly and supportive throughout the deal process.

I focus on real estate transactions and support clients through each stage of a deal. I also have prior experience with corporate transactions, including M&A matters and general corporate governance work. My day-to-day responsibilities have included coordinating due diligence, supporting subject-matter specialists, reviewing and drafting transaction documents, and helping move M&A deals forward.

Andrea N. Perez

Andrea represents collectors, artists, estates, museums, auction houses, galleries, art advisors, non-profits, and other professionals in the arts. She is a consultant for law firms with art law-related matters and a sought-after specialist, expert witness, speaker, and writer in art law. Andrea is the head of the Art Law Section at the firm, and she manages and curates the firm’s art collection.

Combining her love and knowledge of the arts with her sharp legal acumen, Andrea enthusiastically advocates for her clients and works tirelessly to protect their interests. Discrete as she is knowledgeable, she finds creative and efficient legal solutions to a variety of matters in the art world while ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of her exclusive clientele.

Mark Howland is a litigator who regularly handles high-stakes intellectual property cases involving a broad range of complex technologies in federal courts around the country. In addition to his litigation practice, he provides strategic counseling to clients regarding intellectual property licensing and enforcement.

Mark has successfully represented some of the world’s leading semiconductor companies in patent cases involving semiconductor fabrication, wafer inspection, and chip packaging technologies; microprocessor and DSP architectures; memory and storage devices; network processors; graphics processors; and analog and digital circuits. He has also counseled and represented companies in litigation involving a range of technologies relating to oil and gas exploration and production—including towed array seismic data acquisition, nanoparticle tracers for downhole use, and technologies for wear mitigation and fatigue abatement in downhole tools and frack pumps. In the telecommunications space, Mark has represented a number of companies, including mobile phone manufacturers, cable and fiber optic systems manufacturers, and broadcast service providers in cases involving wireless communication technologies relating to a variety of different industry standards; audio encoding; data compression; ATM test networks; GPS monitoring devices; satellite broadcast systems; and wireless and wired network architectures. He also has represented a number of companies in patent litigation relating to software, GUIs, computer network architectures and security, encryption, and payment systems.
