Important: Please read these Legal Notices and Terms of Use (these “Notices and Terms”) carefully before accessing this website.
These Notices and Terms create a legal agreement between you (“You“) and Carrington, Coleman, Sloman and Blumenthal, L.L.P. (“CCSB“) that governs: (1) the information of CCSB (the “Information“) made available through our website at ccsb.com, including our firm-branded blogs and newsletters regardless of the domain on which they are hosted (collectively, the “Website”), (2) the nature of the relationship between You and CCSB; (3) certain other matters of professional responsibility; (4) CCSB’s use of Your information gathered by it through this website; and (5) Your use of the Website, related systems, and the Information (collectively, the “CCSB Site“).
By accessing any portion of the CCSB Site, You are indicating that You have read and understood, and that You agree to these Notices and Terms, which may be amended from time to time by CCSB pursuant to the terms herein. If You do not agree to these Notices and Terms, You are not permitted to access the CCSB Site.
- Firm Name and Marks
“CCSB,” “Carrington Coleman,” and the CCSB logo are trade names and/or service marks of CCSB. They may not be used without CCSB’s prior written permission. All other trademarks, service marks, and logos appearing on the CCSB Site are the property of their respective owners.
- No Legal Advice
The Information is made available for general informational purposes only, and is not intended to constitute specific legal advice or to be a substitute for advice from qualified counsel. Without limiting the foregoing, the Information may not reflect recent developments in the law, may not be complete, and may not be accurate in or applicable to Your jurisdiction. Because the Information is general in nature and may not pertain to Your specific circumstances, You should not act or refrain from acting based on any Information without first obtaining advice from professional counsel qualified in the applicable subject matter and jurisdictions. Discussion of prior case results on the CCSB Site should not be construed as a guarantee that similar results will be obtained in future cases.
- No Attorney-Client Relationship
CCSB has a policy of entering into attorney-client relationships with its clients only in accordance with certain procedures, which include reaching a mutual agreement regarding the existence and scope of the relationship and addressing professional responsibility conflicts as required by applicable rules of professional conduct. CCSB cannot represent You as a new client or extend representation of an existing client to an additional new matter until the firm determines whether it has a conflict of interest and is otherwise willing and able to accept the new engagement. You have not formed an attorney-client relationship with CCSB unless and until (i) CCSB has informed You that it is willing and able to represent You as a new client or to extend representation of an existing client to an additional new matter and (ii) You and CCSB mutually agree to the terms of such representation, which terms will be confirmed in a written engagement letter or other writing, which may include email. You agree that Your access of the CCSB Site or receipt of the Information, or Your transmission of electronic mail to addresses on the CCSB Site, does not create an attorney-client relationship between You and CCSB.
- Other Matters of Professional Responsibility
- No Advertising or Solicitation. The CCSB Site is not intended to be an advertisement or solicitation, but may be deemed an advertisement in certain jurisdictions. The hiring of a lawyer is an important decision, and You should not rely solely upon advertisements. You should act with the benefit of full information about the attorney and firm You select. No representation is made or intended that the quality of the legal services to be performed by CCSB is greater than the quality of legal services performed by other lawyers.
- Sensitive Communications. You agree that electronic mail sent by You to CCSB will not be treated as confidential or invoke an attorney-client privilege; provided, however, that if You are an existing client of CCSB and You send an electronic mail to CCSB pertaining to a matter in which CCSB then represents You, such electronic mail may be entitled to be treated as confidential or privileged. Do not send CCSB any unsolicited information or documents that You consider private or confidential through the CCSB Site or using contact information obtained on it. Such information will not be treated as private, confidential, or protected from disclosure. If You wish to become a client or extend CCSB’s representation of You to an additional new matter, confer with a CCSB attorney about what limited information CCSB must first obtain to check for conflicts of interest and to assess whether CCSB is in a position to represent or extend representation of You. Notwithstanding the foregoing, You acknowledge that electronic mail and the Internet are generally insecure media of communication, and CCSB cannot guarantee the confidentiality of any electronic mail sent to or received by it or any information submitted by You to CCSB through the CCSB Site.
- Authorized Jurisdictions; Certifications. While CCSB practices law in Texas as well as other jurisdictions, each CCSB attorney is licensed to practice only in those jurisdictions set forth in that attorney’s biography on the CCSB Site. By appearing on the CCSB Site, CCSB attorneys do not solicit, target, or advertise for legal employment in any jurisdiction other than where the attorney is admitted to practice law. Except as specifically stated, each CCSB attorney is not certified (including as a specialist or expert) by any professional or government authority. The listing of an area of practice by a CCSB attorney does not indicate any certification or expertise therein. The listing of CCSB attorneys in practice groups is not intended to indicate any professional or governmental certification.
- Principal Office; Responsible Attorney. CCSB’s principal office is 901 Main Street, Suite 5500, Dallas, Texas 75202. CCSB’s responsible attorney for the CCSB Site is D. Wade Emmert.
- No Warranty of Results. The Information may contain descriptions of matters in which CCSB successfully represented its clients. The results of these matters were dependent on their specific circumstances, and are in no way intended to be predictive of future results, even in similar circumstances, or to offer any type of guarantee or assurance of outcome. Past results afford no guarantee of future results, and every matter is different and must be judged on its own merits. Information pertaining to CCSB clients may not reflect the opinions of such clients.
- Photographs and Likenesses. Photographs appearing on the CCSB Site are for illustrative purposes only and may include models. Likenesses do not necessarily imply current client, partnership, or employee status.
- State-Specific Notices. Unless otherwise indicated, CCSB attorneys are not certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Additional state-specific notices may apply based on the jurisdictions in which CCSB attorneys are admitted to practice. Please refer to individual attorney biographies for jurisdiction-specific information.
