Personal Injury Defense

Personal injury defense requires specialized knowledge—knowledge of the applicable statutes, relevant standards of care, and injury-related damages models. We have extensive experience litigating medical malpractice claims (primarily in the defense of medical-surgical hospitals, as well as psychiatric facilities); medical device cases; a variety of other products liability matters, including automobiles, aircraft, farm equipment, and toxic materials; oilfield and pipeline-related  injury cases; and other personal injury claims.  So we know what it takes to successfully defend our clients. We have been successful in getting claims dismissed early in the case where plaintiffs have not complied with the statutory requirements, or have otherwise failed to plead and prove a case with legal merit. And when cases have to be litigated, we know how to try them—and have tried them successfully both to juries and in cases in which the judge was the sole fact finder, both in federal and state courts. Simply put, our personal injury clients trust us to handle these claims so that they can get back to business.

A significant area of responsibility for manufacturers, distributors, and sellers of products large and small is the safety and performance of those products. Product liability claims against companies are a risk for many. Carrington Coleman’s trial lawyers are experienced with the legal theories and injuries that are germane to products liability and personal injury litigation, in a wide range of industries and products.  We represent Fortune 500 companies as well as smaller enterprises whose continued existence is threatened by litigation.

We also advise clients on issues of manufacturing and marketing as well as the scope and nature of effective insurance coverage, exposure to litigation, and the attendant cost of litigation. Most importantly, we have extensive experience in presenting these cases to judges and juries—we are trial lawyers. We believe our clients benefit from Carrington Coleman’s public record of experience, ability, and willingness to take a case to trial and try it well.
