The Art of Law

Your business or enterprise is dynamic, in an ever changing marketplace. The law, even while adhering to principles that have remained unchanged for over two centuries, is also dynamic, often interpreted in shades of gray rather than black and white. The art of law is the ability to provide advanced technical legal knowledge while applying intelligent, innovative, and effective solutions that allow clients to make the best decisions and meet their objectives. The art of law helps clients turn issues into opportunities.

Carrington Coleman's intellectual property practice group counsels clients in matters involving patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade dress, trade secret, false advertising, unfair competition, entertainment, and computer laws. We have significant experience litigating cases alleging patent, trademark, copyright, or trade dress infringement as well as claims for misappropriation of trade secrets, false advertising or unfair competition. We work closely with other Carrington Coleman lawyers in related practice areas.

We assist clients with the development of strategic plans designed to protect intellectual property portfolios and enhance the future value of intellectual property assets. We regularly represent clients in obtaining trademark and copyright registrations and in contested administrative proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, including opposition, cancellation, and interference proceedings. We assist clients with drafting and negotiating contracts involving trademark, copyright, trade dress, and trade secret rights, including computer software licensing agreements, proprietary information and confidentiality agreements, merchandising contracts, book publishing contracts, and various entertainment industry contracts.

Our clients are in many industries, including computer systems, computer software, electronic data management, high technology, communications, broadcasting, amusement, entertainment, multimedia, photography, publishing, food, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, advertising, financial services, insurance, professional services, real estate development, health care, medical products, skin care, manufacturing, construction, automobiles, textiles, consumer products, retail, and hotel services.
