Representative Matters
Securities
Represented an investment broker in two companion arbitration proceedings brought by dissatisfied clients who alleged the broker engaged in unsuitable and unauthorized trading and also represented the broker in a related regulatory inquiry. Both arbitrations were settled on favorable terms for the broker, and the regulatory inquiry concluded without any action being taken against the broker.
Represented a securities clearing firm in several arbitrations initiated by customers of the introducing brokerage firms. On multiple occasions, has obtained dismissal of all claims against the clearing firm prior to an arbitration hearing.
Participated in defending a Fortune 500 company in a securities fraud lawsuit and a related SEC investigation.
Business Litigation
Obtained a favorable result for a wireless communications company in an arbitration proceeding brought by a former dealer who claimed it was owed unpaid commissions.
Represented a purchaser suing for specific performance and delay damages for breach of a contract for the purchase of an apartment complex. The trial court granted summary judgment awarding specific performance and, after a successful appeal, obtained a favorable jury verdict on delay damages. (Case still pending)
Actively participated at trial in defending a majority shareholder against claims brought by the minority shareholder. (Case still pending).
