CARRINGTON COLEMAN HONORED WITH ABA NATIONAL AWARD
The American Bar Association's Death Penalty Representation Project is honoring Carrington Coleman and the Denver firm of Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons with the Exceptional Service Award for the pro bono representation of Manuel Velez, who was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death in 2008. Partners Lyndon Bittle and Neil Burger, and Associate Jenny Smith, along with several other Carrington Coleman lawyers, have worked for over four years with the attorneys from Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons to discover, develop, and present evidence demonstrating that Mr. Velez's conviction was the product of misleading medical testimony and the ineffective assistance of his trial counsel.

Carrington Coleman won a decisive victory for its client in a New Jersey state court at the start of a two to four month trial where in excess of $6 billion in damages had been sought by a Canadian holding company and its U.S. subsidiary based on allegations of commercial disparagement.
